How do you work with Dysregulated Nervous Systems?

  • Each Person’s Unique Journey: I strive to make my work with clients as simple and effective as possible, though I recognize that each person has their own unique journey that has brought them to where they are. There is no one-size-fits-all approach; much of the work together is about focusing on “you” and tailoring the process to meet your specific needs.

In my practice, I focus on fostering a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore and understand their nervous systems. My approach combines elements of Somatic Movement, Rolfing, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, and Yoga Therapy, tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.

1. Creating a Safe Space: I prioritize creating a welcoming and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. This environment is crucial for the nervous system to shift out of survival mode and into a state where healing and regulation can occur.

2. Building Awareness: I guide clients in developing a deeper awareness of their bodies and signals. Through gentle touch and somatic exercises, I help clients tune into their physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts. This awareness is the first step in understanding how their nervous systems respond to stressors and finding ways to self-regulate.

3. Personalized Techniques: I use a combination of manual therapy techniques, such as Rolfing and Craniosacral Therapy, along with embodied and somatic movement practices to help release tension and facilitate the body’s natural ability to self-regulate. These techniques calm the nervous system, improve posture, and enhance overall body awareness.

4. Somatic Education: I educate clients on the relationship between their nervous system and their physical and emotional well-being. By teaching simple self-regulation techniques, such as breathwork and grounding exercises, I provide clients with tools to manage stress and anxiety in their daily lives.

5. Collaborative Process: My work with clients is a collaborative process. I encourage clients to be active participants in their healing journey, empowering them to make choices that support their well-being. This collaboration fosters a sense of agency and confidence in their ability to regulate their nervous systems.

By integrating these approaches, I support clients in achieving greater nervous system regulation, resilience, and overall well-being. My goal is to empower individuals to understand their bodies better, manage stress effectively, and experience a greater sense of balance and harmony in their lives.

I hope this provides a clear idea of what we will be doing together if you decide to work with me.

If you find the above description challenging or confusing, please know that you are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. In my experience, as we become more regulated from a felt-sense paradigm of our nervous systems, what was once overwhelming or unclear can become a comfortable, easily understood walk in the park. It just takes time to unwind our nervous systems and allow blurry perceptions to become clear. In hindsight, things can make much more sense than before experiencing them. Please let me know how I can be of support in this for you.
